Welcome Macy!
Tuesday, February 6, 2012
Well I’m almost two weeks overdue on this post, but our poor little computer is at the doctor this week, so I’m here at the library bloggin away! A couple weeks ago, our dear friends Dave & Megan came to town to visit. Dave plays in Kutless with Nick, and he and Megan hooked Nick & I up several years ago. THANK YOU! Anyway, they recently moved ...
In sickness and in health...
A couple of days ago I came down with a head cold, given to me by my husband (I can’t stop kissing him oops!). Yesterday night it progressed into a monster of a flu and I ended up fevered and achy, unable to really move from the bed to the bathroom.
It’s interesting to see how different people handle sickness. Nick makes sure he functions completely normal, and hates the thought of...

Happy Birthday Nickus!
Tuesday, January 24, 2012
My very best friend and husband Nick turned 27 yesterday. I take birthdays very seriously, and have high expectations for how they should go, so I wanted it to be the best. The plans were to have a date night with a movie and dinner at Stoney River (a WONDERFUL steak house here in Tennessee). We don’t treat ourselves to many nice dinner outings like this, so we...
Necklace board
For those of you who don’t know, I started an online store for secondhand items. The store needs some stocking, but I hope to have it well stocked and cycled through regularly before too long. The hard part is that you’ve gotta spend money to make money, and we can’t do that all the time!
Anyway, I randomly sold my necklace stand the other day on the store, and so I was left...
Welcome the King!

The other day we were out to dinner with our friends Corey & Katie, and happened to bring up the topic of mattresses. We have been sleeping in a full size bed since we’ve been married. The bed had been mine since college, and we were grateful to have one! However, fitting myself AND a 6’3” man in it isn’t the easiest task. See below about the...
Pushpin/yarn art copycat
Thursday, January 12, 2012
I saw these yarn/nail letters on pinterest, and have had them sitting in my DIY folder for months now. I also look at our very massive and very BLANK wall in our kitchen, and today decided to combine the two. Here’s what I came up with.
Original pinterest photo:
My modification using pushpins (so we wouldn’t have massive holes in our wall).
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 (Nick and I have been married 7 months today!)
This summer Nick and I were super blessed to join Compassion International on a trip to Ecuador, and have been blessed to be part of the ministry as they couple with tons of artists & speakers worldwide. Every year Compassion puts on an artist/speaker retreat, and lucky for us it happened to be in Franklin.
Today was...

Spontaneous decision=great rewards
Yesterday nick and I departed Portland, OR bound for Nashville, TN. Sad to leave, yet so ready to get home. Our connecting flight however ended up having technical issues, which led to switching to a smaller plane, which led to an over sold flight. Which…. Led to us volunteering to be bumped and stayin the night in salt lake. The upside? $800 worth of travel vouchers, hotel voucher for the...
Trenton Newell Gift Guide
Monday, December 26, 2011
I felt this post needed to be separate from my Christmas morning one, because Trenton deserves a little extra attention. My amazing little brother is proving his talents once again by making us all Christmas presents. Here are just a few of the things he made for us this year. I’m telling you, he is SO good at it. If you missed my previous post, here are a few...
Christmas morning @ the Newell's
Monday, December 26, 2011
Gifts poured out from under our tree this year, and all I could think about was how much that didn’t matter. The best part of my Christmas was being with my family. Nick and I are so blessed to both have incredible families that we love, and who love each other. Above all though, we have families that love Jesus too. That is an incredible blessing that I thank God...
That's a wrap!
Friday, December 23, 2011
I LOVE wrapping presents. It’s one of my favorite things to do. My goal is to make every present look just a little bit different. Well thanks to my graphic designer husband and some pin-spiration, we were able to make each gift very unique with our own twist.
Here was our inspiration:

How do you like to wrap your gifts?? Any new ideas?

Congrats Laura and Brett!
Wednesday, December 21, 2011
My sweet and dear friend Laura just got engaged this past weekend. Lucky enough for me, she was able to come up from Eugene on Monday so I could see her gorgeous ring and give her a big squeeze! Laura and I used to be roommates (along with Chloe), and she was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding. I am so incredibly happy for her and Brett. I wish I was able to get to...
Graduation Day
Saturday, December 17, 2011
I am so grateful I’m home in Portland this week, because today I was able to watch one of my VERY best friends graduate from George Fox University! I am beyond proud of her. I met Chloe in 2008, and moved in with her from 2009-2010. This is one of those friends that I can be 100% myself with. She’s a comfort to me that I miss SO very much in Tennessee. We...
Girl's night!
Friday, December 16th, 2011
I am way beyond overdue for a blog update, but have been busy busy busy. SORRY! I arrived in Portland on Saturday the 10th, and have been going nonstop.
Wednesday night I planned a night in watching The Help, since my family was all leaving me for the evening for their Christmas parties. As my parents were heading out the door, my Mom suggested that I call my Grandma...
I'll sort of be home for Christmas
Thursday, December 8, 2011
I had an amazing week on the Very Merry Christmas Tour. I spent the time surrounded by godly, genuine, hilarious and joyful people, and walked away SO very glad I was able to come along for a week. The show layout is awesome because all of the artists play throughout the night and intermix within each other’s sets. If you haven’t heard the music of the...
Surprise trip!
Friday, December 2, 2011
And again, my life proves to be completely unpredictable. Our plans Wednesday night included making a spaghetti dinner, picking up Dave from the airport, watching Revenge, and then dropping the guys off at bus call at 11:45PM. Everything went as planned up until 11:45PM… While the guys were helping load the trailer, I sat on the bus to hide from freezing...
