:: To My Daddy ::

Dad, this one is for you today! Todd Newell, you’re quite a man. I have an endless list of things I love about you, an endless list of things I respect in your character, and an endless list of things you do that make my sides split from laughter. You are a real treasure Dad. You are someone who has shaped me into the woman that I am. You’ve led by example, and have day after day pointed our family to Christ. This is an ode to you, to thank you for just a FEW of the qualities I cherish in you. In reality there are about a million.

One of the things I respect about you the most (a quality that my husband also possesses) is that EVERYONE likes you. I don’t think I’ve met a single person that knows you that is able to shut up about how awesome you are. I see this being utilized in your role as a pastor. You have an ability to connect people, love them, and guide them as you follow Jesus. While it can be hard to share you with thousands of people, I am so glad that the Lord has led you to this job and calling. You were MADE for it, and are shining in this role. I think all of Solid Rock can join me in saying “Amen!”

You have shown Ben, Tj & I how to be a loving spouse, and how to make a marriage last. You love this woman SO well, and know how to lead her and your family in such a way that honors the Lord. Thank you. I know Mom constantly gives me wisdom about marriage, because she has lived through 31 years of a marriage that has got it right. Not perfect, but right. Thank you for working hard in your marriage with Mama.

Also… you look good in a jumpsuit. I love that you’re a daredevil and went skydiving for your 50th bday. You’re fun.

You are an outstanding Grandpa. You were made for granddaughters I know that much. I know Evy is going to grow up feeling so special and treasured by her sweet Grandpa. Can’t wait to someday give you more grandchildren to love on.

Lastly, you are a loving father. I am so grateful that I NEVER had to question your love for us growing up. You have instilled in our family a level of love that many families don’t have. Thank you specifically for never giving up on me. Thank you for loving me through hard times in my life, and for praying faithfully for my salvation. Thank you for raising me the way you did, and for ultimately leading me to Christ. You and Mom (after Christ of course) are the ones I have to thank for that. Thank you for walking me down that aisle last year and giving me away, entrusting me into the care of Nick. I will always be your girl, but thank you for sharing me:)

You’re the most amazing man Dad. I’m so glad I have had the privilege of being your daughter. I wish I could be there to spend the day with you. Just a month longer! Love you Daddy. Happy Father’s Day!
