Nick and I had such an amazing day Sunday, because it was our one year anniversary! What an amazing year. To look back on all that has taken place in this past year, was just astonishing. God has taken me across the country, away from family, into an incredible marriage to a truly wonderful husband, placed me in great community, traveled us all over the country, and outside of the country, taught us to love more deeply, to become more and more each other’s best friend, and has continued to draw us closer to Him through it all.

To Nick, this year has been absolutely life changing. You have made me such a better person, and we will hopefully have 50+ more years of growing to do. You are a KIND man, a man of integrity, a man I love and a man I HIGHLY respect. Thank you for working so incredibly hard to provide for us, and to pursue your dreams. You are such an amazing songwriter, and one HOT guitar player. Thank you for leading me spiritually, by pointing us ALWAYS to Christ. Thank you for your patience, as I am an emotional young woman. Thank you for the dedication you’ve already displayed to our marriage. I have no doubt in my mind that neither of us is going anywhere. I can’t wait to walk with you through the rest of our life, good and bad. Thanks for pickin me to be your buddy through life. Love you SO much.

Ok, sorry for the sap… I can’t help myself. He’s too wonderful. Here’s what we did on our anniversary. We of course have HUGE dreams of taking amazing trips down the road for other anniversaries, but we decided to just hang out around town and go on a date!

We started the morning exchanging gifts. It’s the paper anniversary so we went with the thoughtful approach.

(This is a photo of the balloons the night before at Gin-O where the helium tank is…they didn’t last overnight) My goal here was to have these floating in our bedroom when Nick woke up… but helium leaked and died throughout the night. Oh well, it was still neat! Since we didn’t write our own vows on our wedding day, I decided to write some, so inside each balloon was a promise to Nick, with a corresponding photo at the bottom of each string. Ex: Photo of me singing into a mic- “I promise to always show interest in your interests, and learn more about them. Thank you for being such a good teacher.” Etc….

This was in his card. It was a photo that Megan found of me taken at her house on the VERY first night Nick and I met. That’s him in the background. Isn’t that special?

Nick’s amazing display and gifts to me. On the poster board are the lyrics to the song he wrote about me 2 years ago that got us back together and eventually married. If you don’t know our whole love story, music (this song in particular) have a LOT to do with it. You can read a blog I wrote about it here. This song is super special, and for my gift he totally redid the song. I like this version even better. You can listen to it at the top of this post! Whew what a hottie. He can sing to me all day long.

We went to church, then ate a lowkey lunch at home. I napped, and he got some work done:) And then he took me to City House. One of the tastiest restaurants ever! Mmm!

We ordered a delicious pizza with cheese from sheep’s milk (sounds gross, but it was glorified and heavenly parmesan), chili oil, and tomato sauce, pulled pork and corn bread, and then a delicious salad (not pictured).

We then went to MapCo to load up on movie candy, and then saw Snow White & The Huntsman. Just the date we like.

I love this man, and I’m so glad I married him. Thank you Lord for the many blessings of marriage, and thank you for being our Rock. Nick… here’s to 50 more years baby! Love you!

Thank you to you guys for reading this LONGGGG blog.  Don’t forget to listen to the new version of “Love Can Change Your Mind” by my handsome husband.
